Growing Augusta Invites Community to Friendsgiving Brunch and Live Jazz at Cambridge Neighborhood Park November 15

Free afternoon gathering featuring Deon Blue will celebrate food, music, and neighborhood connection; L4Jazz headlines separate sunset concert.

AUGUSTA, GA — October 28, 2026 — Growing Augusta: Arts, Agriculture, & Agency invites residents, families, and friends to Fall Into Cambridge: Friendsgiving Brunch, a free community gathering on Sunday, November 15, from noon to 3 p.m. at Cambridge Neighborhood Park in South Augusta.

The afternoon will bring together live music, brunch offerings from local food businesses, and opportunities for neighbors to connect in a welcoming outdoor setting.

Pianist Deon Blue will perform from 1 to 3 p.m. Admission is free, with brunch and beverages available for purchase from participating vendors.

The Gratitude Grove: My Wish for South Augusta

A special community engagement feature, The Gratitude Grove, will invite guests of all ages to share their hopes and aspirations for their neighborhood.

Using leaf-shaped tags, participants will complete one simple prompt:

“My wish for South Augusta is: ____________”

Their wishes will become part of a collaborative community display, creating a visual expression of what residents value and hope to see in South Augusta's future.

Following the event, organizers plan to document and identify recurring themes from the responses to help inform future community programming. The display may also return during December's Cambridge gathering as a reminder of the ideas and aspirations shared by residents.

Additional plant-centered activities are being explored with local partners.

Bringing Beautiful Experiences Into Neighborhood Spaces

Friendsgiving Brunch builds on Growing Augusta's September and October activations at Cambridge Neighborhood Park, which helped establish the site as a location for live music and community-centered cultural experiences.

"For us, Friendsgiving is about more than sharing a meal," said Karen Gordon, founder of Growing Augusta and producer of Candlelight Jazz — South. "It's about creating opportunities for neighbors to connect, celebrate what's good in their community, and imagine what we can grow together. Beautiful experiences belong in our neighborhoods, too."

Gordon, whose music programming experience dates to the original Candlelight Jazz series in 2003, is developing Cambridge as a recurring setting for cultural gatherings that combine music, hospitality, community participation, and neighborhood pride.

The November event reflects a larger commitment to designing cultural experiences with the community, rather than simply presenting events to the community.

Candlelight Jazz — South Continues With Sunset Concert

Following the brunch, the park will transition to a separately ticketed Candlelight Jazz — South concert featuring L4Jazz, from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

Concert admission options include $10 advance tickets, $15 day-of-show admission, and Pay What You Wish tickets.

The two experiences have separate admission arrangements, allowing residents to attend the free brunch, the evening concert, or both.
